Single "Seasons" out 14.09.2018

This song is based around some lines of Lewis Carroll:
"In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the Summers die."

These words by Lewis Carroll tie together the themes in the song: time, seasons, love, hope, dreams, sadness and separation. The song moves through the seasons completely, both literally and metaphorically, for it is the story of a first love that changed everything; the catalysts that change life's direction, and the hopes and dreams that arise from those.

lyrics

SEASONS

Oooh in a wonderland they lie,
Oooh dreaming as the days go by.

You were the catalyst I didn't know
As you slowly sowed seeds that changed my world.

You were my Spring, as you painted the coldness with green on everything.
You were my April, March and May,
But the colours of the seasons were never made to stay.

Soaring through Winter on a Summer cloud,
Wishing Summer rain, just to dream again.

Pained with all you knew,
Will you ever know how the colours change around you?
Cos you paint your world in blue,
But you painted mine with life until you flew.

You became my start,
Played your only part.
Can’t go back to when
I was different then,
I was different then.

Oooh in a wonderland they lie,
Oooh dreaming as the Summers die.

Now we are parted, on our different paths,
We weren't meant to last, like the seasons change.

You were my Spring, as you painted the coldness with green on everything.
You were my April, March and May,
But the colours of the seasons, they colour my dismay.

Cold bites the air now on a Winter chill,
I am frozen, still, in the wake of you.

Pained with all you knew,
Will you ever know how the colours change around you?
Cos you paint your world in blue,
Like you painted mine to a picture without you.

Can’t go back again,
Time is no-one’s friend.
Now we are apart,
Please give back my heart,
Please give me back my heart.
